I've been wanting to do the floristry course for 2 years and for 2 years I ummed and ahhed over the decision to do it. Then one day, after much persuasion from my husband to 'just do it' and to do 'something for myself' I decided to register my interest. Then I had a call with Jess and the decision was final. And I haven't regretted the decision since. I had moved to Newcastle a few years ago during covid and hadn't made too many friends so I was worried about attending the course by myself but I met the most amazing group of people. Everyone had varying reasons for attending the course and varying experience levels with flowers. I was a novice along with a few others wanting to see where the course would take us, and then we had some who were already in the floristry industry wanting to expand their knowledge and upskill. One thing was certain though, we all loved flowers (which is kinda a prerequisite to enrolling in a floristry course). It was a handson course so on our first day we dived straight in. Jess provided us a basic understanding of what we needed to do and then let us develop the concept into our final product. And this, I believe, is the best way to learn, theory followed immediately by practice. As the course progressed each week, our group grew closer and we learned so many different things. Jess is just an amazing human, as a teacher, mentor and friend. She is so full of knowledge of the floristry industry and she just gives everything to the course and is so willing to pass on her tips and tricks along the way. If you are thinking of joining and are 'umming and ahhing' like I did, 3 words "Just do it! ". If you're new, just starting out, or just love flowers, you will have a wonderful time. The only downside to the course is that it was not long enough! As the final day approached, we were all somber about having to end the course and not being around flowers anymore. I could not have chosen a better session to enrol in and if I had to do it again, I would do the course with Newcastle Flower School and the same group of people again. Thank you Jess, for everything! You are simply an amazing person and keep doing what you're doing! Kind regards Lorreta Class of 2024
LorretaI recently had the pleasure of attending the Introduction to Flowers course at the Newcastle Food and Flower Markets. To say it was a worthwhile investment in my business was an understatement! The whole day was inspirational. Learning from the warmest, most encouraging and talented Jess was so amazing and helpful in every way. She was so good at letting the day evolve around our small group and what we were interested in, and her knowledge of flowers and running a business is invaluable. She gave us the opportunity to work with really beautiful flowers and foliage to create a stunning floral arrangement, I loved every minute. I travelled from regional NSW to attend the workshop and I absolutely would not hesitate in returning for many more, it was such a rewarding, worthwhile and really beautiful day!
Kellie O'CallaghanI had the pleasure of meeting Jess when my friend introduced me to the beautiful Newcastle Food and Flower Markets. After speaking of my mum’s desire to learn floristry, Jess informed me of their workshops. I immediately booked my mum and myself in. The workshop was AMAZING not only do you have loads of fun and get to meet beautiful people but you also get to walk out with a stunning piece of work. I highly recommend visiting Newcastle Food and Flower Markets and booking in for one of their workshops, you will not regret it!
PhoebeI purchased Mum a surprise flower arrangement workshop gift at Newcastle Food and Flower Markets. Mum was absolutely over the moon and so was I. What a beautiful experience, from Jess sharing her knowledge, the group getting to know each other and then allowing our creative flow go! The ammount of supplies you are given to create is so generous. At some stages I was a little unsure with what direction I should go, but guided by Jess, she encouraged and supportd where needed and my confidence grew. A few months later I still have the most beautiful wreath arrangement hanging in my hallway and I'll never forget the experience. Thank you, I'm already keeping an eye online for the next workshop I'll book into.
